When i became a Mom i never knew that i would have to learn and change myself in ways that i could never imagine. My son taught me patience, which i didn't think that was something that i have to learn. Kids at the age of three to five who are just getting exposed to the world, you know how they are. They think crying and shouting is the solution for everything. My Son who is five now and who has just started his kindergarten thinks he knows everything in this world. So i call him "Hot Pepper". When he is in a good mood he talks to me very confidently which gives me chuckles for his innocence. Here are some of the conversations form the past.
First day at school:
Hot Pepper: " You know why Ms.Brown is called MS.Brown Maa"
Me: " No baby"
Hot Pepper : " Coz, she wore a Brown shirt Amma"
Second day, he comes home and tells me that MS.Brown was in black shirt, so i asked him if she was still Ms.Brown, and he gave me a naughty smile. I'm not sure what that smile meant, if he understood that its her name or not, i don't know.
FREE Milk at the Cafeteria:
You can either pack a lunch box or pay some money at the cafeteria for your kids lunch. Being a first time mom for a kindergartner, it dint occur to me that he didn't have money in his cafeteria account , and i didn't bother much as i was packing his lunch form home. But he brought back the lunch i gave him every single day without eating and told me that he had milk at school which was free. I was surprised that the milk was free and i knew he didn't have money in his cafeteria account for him to buy milk. So i went to his school one day to have lunch with him to see what he was doing . As he told me, he stood in the line , got a box of chocolate milk and showed me how he has to enter the pin to get the milk. So i checked with the lady at the counter and she told me that i need to put some money in his account. We came back and sat at his table, and then he showed me the box and tells me " see Amma , i told ya the milk is free" And guess what was on the box "FAT FREE MILK":-)
Can i go for a walk?
He comes one day and asks me " Maa can i go for a walk with Daksha ( his best friend)" and i'm thinking in my mind is he a teenager to go for a walk with his girl friend or is he five years old ? or didn't i realize that he is grown up now to go for a walk without his parents and with his girl friend.
ATM..
So a discussion came between me and my hot pepper about money. He suggested me something and i told him i cant do that as i don't have that much money. So he tells me ,"You know what Ma, you should go to ATM, they have lots of money there " :-)
